The scene is set for the annual junior semi formal tonight, and our Year 9 and 10 students have been buzzing today about the event.

This is a student council initiative, and I wish to thank Year 12 student Ciaran Thow for his organisation and dedication to setting up what will be a fantastic night for the junior students! Thanks also to Mr Baker, Ms Dodemaide and Ms Dellaway for their support with organization and supervision. Next Saturday night, the seniors have their school ball at ShantyTown. This, too, is promising to be a great event. Students must purchase their tickets by Wednesday morning, or they will miss out!

It has been quiet this week with seniors sitting the derived grade exams. Marking is underway and students can expect to have all their results by Friday next week. Feedback from the exams will support students to revise for the externals that begin on 6 November. We will have another opportunity for face-to-face parent/teacher/student conferences for senior students early in term four.

Enrolments for Year 9s in 2024 are looking healthy at this stage. If you know of anyone who is interested in John Paul II for their child or children, please contact office@johnpaul.ac.nz or direct them to the enrolment form on our website. There are different pathways into JPII, and we are here to help. We will be running a baptism programme for our “non-preference” students (those who are not baptised Catholic) who wish to make a formal commitment to join our Catholic whānau.

Keep safe and enjoy the sun this weekend.

Ngā mihi
